Some people can
pinpoint the particular incident which created their fear
of flying and others can't. I didn't always have a fear of
flying, and I know exactly from where mine came. I almost
died in an airplane on my way to Medujgore, Yugoslavia; it
almost seemed destined that we would crash. We had to land part
way through the trip because something was wrong with an engine.
Then, right before taking off again, the wheels would not go
down so we changed planes again. When we were about ready to
land at our final destination, we found ourselves in an electrical
storm and the pilot told us we could not land and that we only
had so much fuel. We thought for sure that was the end.
Thankfully we were finally able to land. But, after that experience
I had a horrible fear of flying. I would think of alternative
ways to travel so I would not have to fly. I would try to drive
or take a bus or a train, but that was often too inconvenient. I would have to
just endure the nervousness in my stomach before and during the
trip. I would freak out with every little bump, wondering how
everyone around me could be looking so calm and even enjoying
themselves!
Now, after having
listened to Track One a few times, I have no fear. I simply
put the relaxation tape on as soon as I get on a plane. I only
have to play it for an hour and then I'm asleep. When I awake
I feel much better and don't have to use it for the rest of the
trip. When the plane lands I am relaxed and not upset
or hurried by all the rush of getting the luggage, catching a
bus, etc. Afterward, when I would think about that first trip
after using the tapes, I would even have a "good feeling"
about flying again! That really amazed me.
Many people have
experienced the same positive transformation. You may need to
do the process on each area of a fear. So if it works in one
area (such as turbulence) and not in another (such as the sounds
of the engines), do it on that one too. One lady I worked with
who was terrified to fly, felt fine after using the process for
flying on large aircraft. Then she found the fear was still there
when she took a trip in a private plane because a friend had
died in a small plane. We did the process for small planes and
then she had no problem anticipating flying or during the trip.
In fact, she said she even tried to act a little scared because
she thought her friends wouldn't believe that she suddenly no
longer had any fear. Here is her description of her first flying
experience after using the tapes:
Id
usually freak out when Id have to fly. Id be in the
bathroom before my flight, sick to my stomach, my heart racing
a thousand beats a minute, praying to God to give me the strength
and courage to make it through it all without panicking. But
my last flight was truly enjoyable! I didnt experience
any claustrophobia. And before I would have gotten sick during
the landing. But this time I had no motion sickness. I didnt
panic or freak out. It was great! The methods really worked!
